As part of a succession plan, investment company Finexx (Stuttgart / Germany; www.finexx.de) is acquiring packaging manufacturer Volpini (Spittal / Austria; www.volpini.at). The transaction is expected to be closed in the next few weeks, according to Finexx. The parties have agreed to not disclose the financial details.
Volpini Verpackungen in Spittal an der Drau / Austria was originally founded in 1811. Since 1970, the company, which today has around 60 employees, has specialised in the production of plastic packaging, especially yoghurt pots, and thermoforming sheets; a special focus is on the “Desto” cups – thin plastic cups with a cardboard sleeve. Most recently, Volpini achieved an annual turnover of about EUR 13m.
Regarding the transaction, Volpini’s MD Matthias Heining says the company is “excellently positioned” in the rapidly growing field of sustainable packaging solutions. “Furthermore, we see both organic and inorganic growth potential for Volpini.”
