At the end of March 2021, Jokey Treplás, the Spanish subsidiary of Jokey (Wipperfürth / Germany; www.jokey.com), moved from its Molina de Segura site to its new plant in Murcia, 15 km away, and was renamed Jokey Iberica in the process. Construction work at the 30,000 m² site to the sum of EUR 12.2m had begun at the end of February 2020 and, as the company now reports, went according to plan despite Covid-19 restrictions.

At 10,000 m², Jokey Iberica’s production halls now have twice as much space and can hold around 50 injection moulding machines. Output of its “Compact” (JCL) buckets started at the end of March and is set to increase in stages up to the end of April. In addition to containers from its standard range, the Murcia plant will also manufacture household products and closure solutions.

“In the long term, we can double our current production capacity here, and thus serve not only the Spanish but also the Portuguese and Moroccan markets,” said Vicente Hernández, MD at Jokey Iberica.

With around 2,200 employees, the German group has 15 production facilities in 12 countries. Its portfolio of rigid plastic packaging is supplemented by a mould-making firm, a business group for technical plastic parts and a bathroom furniture division. Jokey was founded in 1968 and is managed in the second and third generation by the Kemmerich family.
