German distributor K.D. Feddersen (Hamburg; www.kdfeddersen.com) has begun selling polyamide compounds in Germany and most European countries made by US-based Ascend Performance Materials (Houston, Texas; www.ascendmaterials.com), the world's largest manufacturer of PA 6.6.
In addition to "Vydyne" grades of PA 6.6 and PA 6, the product portfolio also features the new "HiDura Long Chain" series of PA 6.10 and 6.12 materials. Ascend’s products include unreinforced, reinforced, impact-modified and flame-retardant engineering plastics, and special formulations for extrusion and injection molding processes. "We are pleased to round off our product portfolio with polyamide compounds from Ascend," K.D. Feddersen MD Stephan Schnell said.
Meanwhile, Ascend is still on a shopping spree in Europe: after last year acquiring Italian firms Poliblend (Mozzate; www.poliblend.it) and Esseti Plast GD (Mozzate; www.essetiplast.com) and the Dutch company BTP in 2018, in January the US materials supplier shifted its focus to France with the takeover of compounder Eurostar Engineering Plastics (Fosses; www.eurostar-ep.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 08.01.2021.
