PVC giant Orbia (Tlalnepantla / Mexico; www.orbia.com) has apparently run into some issues regarding rumours about a possible sale of the vinyl business and the associated realignment of the company (see Plasteurope.com of 12.01.2021). As the company recently announced, CEO Daniel Martínez-Valle is leaving the group, by mutual agreement, on 1 February 2021.
The board of directors appointed Sameer S. Bharadwaj as his successor. Bharadwaj has worked for Orbia since 2016 and currently heads the Fluor and Polymer Solutions business units. The latter includes the PVC production around Vestolit (Marl / Germany; www.vestolit.de) as well as US compounding company Alphagary (Leominster, Massachusetts; www.alphagary.com). Orbia generated consolidated sales of just under USD 7 bn (EUR 5.8 bn) in 2019.
