Meraxis (Muri / Switzerland; www.meraxis-group.com) has announced the digitalisation of its procurement process for prime and recycled materials. The new “Customer Portal” will provide access to all orders, contracts, deliveries and market information, besides showing customers their monthly raw-material consumption, and the volumes that are still open in the period leading up to the contract end-date, the company noted. “The user interface gives our customers access to all orders, including planned delivery times, contracts, documents and invoices, current price developments and the right contact person,” said Stefan Girschik, CEO of Meraxis.
By the end of 2021, 80% of the group’s customers are expected to have their own accounts. Christian Riechmann, lead buyer at Germany-based foil and film suppler Cofresco Frischhalteprodukte (Minden; www.cofresco.de), noted, “I think that the fact that order information and the related documents are always available in one location at the touch of a button makes things a lot easier and saves time into the bargain.”
For customers who would prefer to automate their orders, the group has developed automated silo management with “Ordering 4.0”. Current raw-material levels in silos are measured using sensors and a digital interface, and the data is then transmitted to Meraxis. Raw materials are then automatically reordered as and when required. Automated ordering aims to reduce the average inventory of stored raw materials, to lower expenses and capital costs for customers.
