Indorama Ventures (IVL, Bangkok / Thailand; www.indoramaventures.com) said it has completed its acquisition of a 100% equity stake in Polish PET recycling company IMP Polowat (Bielsko-Biała; https://www.polowat.pl/en). Indorama first announced its intent to purchase the company in August 2020 (see Plasteurope.com of 12.08.2020).
IMP Polowat, a part of the Italy-based Maurizio Peruzzo group (IMP, Grantorto; www.peruzzoindustries.com), processes post-consumer PET into rPET flakes and pellets at two Polish facilities in Bielsko-Biała and Łęczyca. The sites have a combined capacity of approximately 27,000 t/y, which includes 23,000 t/y of rPET flakes and 4,000 t/y of rPET pellets. Indorama said it plans to invest USD 1.5 bn (EUR 1.27 bn) to achieve its aim of reaching a global recycling capacity of 750,000 t/y, or 50 bn bottles per year, by 2025.
