Jokey (Wipperfürth / Germany; www.jokey.com) has outlined the progress of the construction of a new production facility for its Spanish subsidiary Jokey Treplás (Molina de Segura; www.treplas.com) in Murcia, 15 km from an existing plant in Molina de Segura. Work on the new 30,000 m² plant began in late February 2020 and is running according to plan despite restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, the company said. The move to the EUR 12m new building is scheduled for early 2021.

The Molina de Segura facility, which has been part of Jokey since 2017, is currently bursting at the seams (see Plasteurope.com of 16.06.2017), resulting in a lack of space for the planned production of the rigid containers in the company’s standard product range for the Spanish market. The new building aims to provide space for large injection moulding machines as more than 50 can be installed on the 10,000 m² of production floor. “This will enable us to double our production capacity in the long term,” Jokey Treplás MD Vicente Hernández said. The Spanish injection moulding company manufactures a wide range of special packaging, household products and closure solutions.
