US packaging maker Sealed Air (Charlotte, North Carolina; www.sealedair.com) has announced the retirement of CCO and senior vice-president Karl Deily on 2 April 2021. The 40-year veteran will transition to an advisory role at the end of 2020, the company said in a statement. “We appreciate Karl’s tremendous contributions and leadership to Sealed Air throughout his 40 years of service,” said Ted Doheny, president and CEO. “Karl has played an integral role in shaping Sealed Air into the industry leader it is today and positioning us well for future growth.”
Sealed Air launched cost cuts in 2016 with plans to widen them in 2019-2021 under its “Reinvent SEE” austerity programme. This includes combining the commercial management of two segments under one team led by Deily (see Plasteurope.com of 20.02.2019).
The company also announced a number of management changes. It said the following three regional leaders will become part of the executive leadership team and report directly to Doheny, effective 1 January 2021: Tobias Grasso, president of the Americas; Gerd Wichmann, president of EMEA; and Kevin Piccione, president of APAC. “I’m confident that these leadership succession appointments will further accelerate our Reinvent SEE transformation,” Doheny said.
