The British Plastics Federation (BPF, London; www.bpf.co.uk) has urged members to consult a new online service created to assist with problems associated with Brexit, for which the transition period ends at the end of 2020.
The BPF has launched its “Brexit Toolbox”, which consists of a series of advice pages on its website that help companies looking to import from or export to EU member countries following the UK’s withdrawal from the economic and trade alliance. After the UK voted to leave the EU in June 2016, the BPF created a Brexit taskforce chaired by former BPF president Mike Boswell (see Plasteurope.com of 13.10.2016), who now serves as MD of Plastribution (Ashby-de-la-Zouch / UK; www.plastribution.co.uk).
“Since 2016, we have been working closely with all the key government departments, including the Department for International Trade, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and the Department for Exiting the European Union, to ensure the voice of the plastics industry is heard and the needs and requirements of our membership are understood,” Stephen Hunt, BPF director of membership services, told Plasteurope.com. “We have created this online toolbox to assist member firms in navigating the transition and will be using it to signpost to the latest guidance and policy papers as they become available. I would encourage companies preparing for the end of the transition period to start by looking at the ‘priority action’ section within the toolbox, to ensure their business is as prepared as possible.”
