US manufacturer of labels and self-adhesive decorative films, Avery Dennison (Pasadena, California; www.averydennison.com), wants to establish a new sales office for Germany and Central Europe in Schwelm / Germany. In addition to training rooms, for example in order to certify customers for vehicle and building foiling projects, the company also plans to set up application technology laboratories at the site. No details were given on the amount of the investment planned.
The new branch office will be built following the sale of the former factory premises to project developer Hillwood Europe. Previously, the Avery Dennison production site for its “Label and Graphic Materials” division was located there. In 2019, production at this location was discontinued and around 400 employees lost their jobs, according to media reports. Since then, Schwelm has been used by Avery Dennison only as an office location for sales and administration.
Now, the US company and Hillwood Europe are holding talks with the town of Schwelm to fulfil planning law requirements and prepare building applications. The project developer also plans to build additional rental space at the site.
Last autumn, the label manufacturer expanded its self-adhesive labels production in Rodange / Luxembourg, at a cost of around EUR 60m (see Plasteurope.com of 11.10.2019).
