Film and packaging manufacturer AMB (San Daniele del Friuli / Italy; www.ambpackaging.com) is taking over PTS Verpackungen (Gauting / Germany; www.pts-verpackungen.de), a packaging supplier that has been selling AMB’s range in Germany for 20 years. Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
This is AMB’s second acquisition in a year (see Plasteurope.com of 01.07.2019). In June 2019, the Italian group took over the PET and rPET rigid films specialist, TDX (Gateshead / UK; www.tdx-tss.com). With the buy, AMB grew to become a provider of rigid and flexible films, packaging design and tool manufacturing.
AMB CEO Bruno Marin said the PTS acquisition will help widen AMB’s European footprint, from the heart of Europe. Including the German packaging supplier, AMB now has five locations in Europe, a network of distribution warehouses and 435 employees. The combined company is expected to generate turnover of more than EUR 160m.
PTS was founded in 1997 by the father of the current managing director and owner, Jan Dietrich. The company markets films, bags, injection-moulded cups and flexographic and gravure printing in up to ten colours. Upon enquiry, Dietrich declined to provide Plasteurope.com with information about the company’s most recent sales figures.
