Plastic packaging materials producer Scanfill (Ystad / Sweden; www.scanfill.se), part of the Swedish compounding group Polykemi (Ystad; www.polykemi.se), has acquired the assets of family-owned group JiHå Plast (Karlskoga / Sweden; www.jihaplast.se), allowing the new owner to expand its portfolio of high-quality films made of PET and polystyrene. The deal will also broaden Scanfill’s base as a packaging supplier, opening up a new market and boosting its annual sales by around EUR 2m.
Scanfill already manufactures films made of polyethylene, reinforced and conventional polypropylene and PET. It also processes biodegradable films as well as multilayer and EVOH barriers. The JiHå Plast acquisition will add machinery for PET and PS production in Ystad as of autumn 2020. Scanfill expects the three machines to be operating at full capacity from mid-October 2020. “This makes us one of the few producers that can produce virtually all packaging plastics available on the market,” said Scanfill VP Oscar Hugoson, making it a competitive supplier for Europe.
The Swedish company will take over a large number of national and international customers from JiHå. As a result, it will increase the number of employees at its factory in Ystad.
