The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW; www.endplasticwaste.org) has entered into a strategic partnership with China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF, Beijing; www.cpcia.org.cn/cpcif) to jointly promote the reduction and elimination of plastics waste in China. The partnership will bring together AEPW’s 47 member companies and CPCIF’s strengths to formulate a strategic approach to identify and collaboratively implement local solutions to the waste problem.
“No one country, company or community can solve the plastics waste challenge on their own. The alliance believes in the collaboration of governments through public-private partnerships and long-term commitment focused on acting locally through projects that address a city’s specific challenges,” said AEPW president and CEO Jacob Duer.
CPCIF’s chairman Li Shousheng added, “CPCIF is willing to give full play to its industry advantages, work with stakeholders in the industry value chain and international partners, such as the Alliance, who shares the same vision as CPCIF, to jointly and effectively promote the plastic circular economy, improve and solve plastics waste problems.”
The partners added that they will also open up opportunities to prove and accelerate solutions that will unlock the necessary capital investments.
