Compounder and distributor PolyOne has been renamed Avient (Avon Lake, Ohio / USA; www.avient.com). The corresponding new corporate identity arrives alongside with completion of its acquisition of the colour masterbatch businesses of Clariant (Muttenz / Switzerland; www.clariant.com) and Clariant Chemicals India (see Plasteurope.com of 19.12.2019).
The Swiss group’s masterbatch business includes 46 manufacturing operations and technology centres across 29 countries as well as around 3,500 employees. The USD 1.44 bn (EUR 1.28 bn) purchase is to be integrated into Avient’s Color, Additives and Inks segment. Avient chairman, president and CEO Robert Patterson said he is expecting more than 85% of his company’s adjusted EBITDA to be generated from speciality applications, from less than 10% around 10 years ago.
With effect from 13 July 2020, the company’s trading symbol will also change from “POL” to “AVNT”.
