Renato Zelcher re-elected as president of European plastics converters / Eumeps will participate in reporting rEPS usage
Renato Zelcher, CEO of films manufacturer Crocco (Cornedo Vicentino / Italy; www.crocco.com), has been re-elected as the president of European Plastics Converters (EuPC, Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticsconverters.eu – see Plasteurope.com of 28.05.2018) for the next two years. Regarding the negative image of plastics, Zelcher said plastics are “becoming the material of choice, reminding the world why the material we produce is so widespread and used in millions of different applications.” He added that the EuPC will launch the “#Plastics4People” campaign as a result.
Also re-elected during the assembly were Claude Clement, president and CEO Europe of clean energy systems at Plastic Omnium, for a second term as EuPC treasurer and third term as chair of the EuPC Automotive & Transport division as well as Myriam Tryjefaczka, Tarkett’s sustainability and public affairs director EMEA, for a second term as chair of EuPC’s Building & Construction division. Achim Grefenstein, senior VP group R&D at Constantia Flexibles, was elected as chair of the Packaging Division, taking over from David Baker. Andres Lantero Moreno, president of Grupo Lantero, was elected as a new member of the EuPC steering committee.
In other EuPC news, European Manufacturers of Expanded Polystyrene (Eumeps, Maaseik / Belgium; www.eumeps-packaging.eu) has joined as a full member of EuPC and will also join the “MORE” platform (see Plasteurope.com of 26.04.2019) to report plastic converters’ usage of recycled EPS. Although the coronavirus crisis is causing problems for plastics recycling markets (see Plasteurope.com of 20.05.2020), EuPC said the plastics converting industry in Europe remains dedicated to ensuring transparency in the use of recycled materials.
