Acquisition of Fusion Packaging in the pipeline
AptarGroup (Crystal Lake, Illinois / USA; www.aptar.com), a provider of packaging, dispensing and sealing solutions, has entered into a binding agreement to buy Fusion Packaging (FusionPKG, Dallas, Texas / USA; www.fusionpkg.com) for an undisclosed sum. The transaction remains subject to the usual closing conditions.

FusionPKG manufactures packaging for the North American beauty industry and counts many global cosmetics and skin care companies among its customers. Headquartered in Dallas, the company also has offices in New York and Los Angeles as well as operations in New Jersey and China, employing about 100 people. It posted sales of approximately USD 80m (EUR 74m) in 2019.
“This is a key step in our strategy to address market demands for fast beauty solutions with differentiated design and decorative offerings,” said Aptar’s president and CEO Stephan Tanda, noting that the colour cosmetics and skin care markets offer high growth potential. He added that FusionPKG has been growing at double-digit rates over the past few years and was an “excellent complement” to its existing North American business with great potential to scale the model in Europe and other regions.
Aptar announced in 2019 that it is working with PureCycle Technologies (Orlando, Florida / USA; www.purecycle.com) to introduce recycled polypropylene into its dispensing applications. The company is also collaborating with circular shopping platform Loop from TerraCycle (Trenton, New Jersey / USA; www.terracycle.com) and developing tethered beverage closures with Nippon Closures (Tokyo / Japan; www.ncc-caps.co.jp) – see Plasteurope.com of 12.09.2019.
