Leadership changes in North America / Haakan Jonsson succeeds Jerry MacCleary as chairman of the board

With effect from 1 January 2020, president of Covestro’s (Leverkusen / Germany; www.covestro.com) North American subsidiary Haakan Jonsson took over as chairman of the board of directors. He succeeds Jerry MacCleary, who retired from his role as CEO and chairman at the end of 2019 after nearly two years at the helm. MacCleary started working for the company, formerly part of Bayer, in 1979, holding positions in sales, marketing, general management and strategic leadership.
Jonsson has a Ph.D. in polymer technology and joined the company as a scientist in 1992. He took on various leadership positions in manufacturing, innovation, supply chain and business development, becoming president of Covestro’s North America activities based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania / USA in 2017. Jonsson has previously been a member of several industry and company boards worldwide, including plastics producers association PlasticsEurope Deutschland (Frankfurt / Germany; www.plasticseurope.org).
