At the sixth edition of the “Swiss Plastics Expo” trade fair (www.swissplastics-expo.ch), taking place from 21 to 23 January 2020 in Lucerne, around 260 companies will be showcasing new products and developments in plastics and plastics processing. The trade fair covers 16 of the most important areas of the plastics industry, with five of the main topics covering sustainability and circular economy. The 4,500 visitors expected will also benefit from 106 presentations at the innovation symposium.
The Swiss Plastics Expo 2020 will also for the first time feature the “SHIFT Switzerland” project, with around 25 creative companies and start-ups presenting sustainable solutions for a circular economy. Among these are Bayonix (Feldkirchen-Westerham / Germany; www.bayonix.com) with its fully biodegradable bottle and Tide Ocean (Basel / Switzerland; www.tide.earth), which uses plastics waste collected at beaches for new products. SHIFT Switzerland will be hosted by Denmark, a leader in sustainability.
The trade fair is organised by Messe Luzern (www.messeluzern.ch) in cooperation with various co-organisers. These include Swiss industry association Kunststoff.swiss (Aarau; www.kunststoff.swiss), the association of the Swiss machinery, electronics and metal industry (MEM) Swissmem (Zurich; www.swissmem.ch) and Swiss Plastics Cluster (Fribourgstatt; www.swissplastics-cluster.ch).
