United Caps (Wiltz / Luxembourg; www.unitedcaps.com) has opened its new manufacturing plant in Kulim / Malaysia. CEO Benoît Henckes said the facility will help the company to better serve the Asian market.

When United Caps announced the project in 2017, it said the investment would enable local production of about 300m closures per year and create at least 20 new jobs in the region – see Plasteurope.com of 05.05.2017.

The company also announced, at the official opening of the plant, that it has extended its “Safe-TE” line of flip-top hinged closures for infant milk powders with a new product, “127 Safe-TE”. The new closure addresses the need in the Asian market for increased tamper evidence indicators and a more premium look, it said. Production of Safe-TE for the Asian market will begin in Kulim in September 2020. “We were extremely pleased with the attendees’ warm reception of the new Safe-TE line, which will be available in both Asian and European versions,” said Henckes.
