Acquisition of the Sky Plastic recycling company

GreenCycle (Neckarsulm / Germany; www.greencycle.de) has acquired plastics recycler Sky Plastic (Haimburg / Austria; www.skyplastic.com) with retroactive effect from the start of 2019. With this acquisition, Germany’s Schwarz group, which owns GreenCycle and supermarket chain Lidl, is gaining additional expertise in post-consumer waste. All 150 or so employees of Sky Plastic will be taken over. The purchase price was not disclosed.
With sites in Haimburg and Fonte / Italy, Sky Plastic processes plastics waste from bales and flakes into polypropylene, polyethylene and polystyrene recyclate. The waste comes primarily from Austria, Germany and Italy. The input materials processed include ones from GreenCycle’s waste collection company PreZero (Neckarsulm / Germany; www.prezero.com), formerly Tönsmeier – see Plasteurope.com of 01.10.2018.
