Due to limited synergies with its own core activities, BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) has agreed to sell its ultrafiltration membrane business to DuPont Safety & Construction (Wilmington, Delaware / USA; www.dupont.com) under a deal whose financial terms both parties did not disclose. The divestment includes shares in inge (www.inge.basf.com), the business’ international sales force, its headquarters and production site in Greifenberg / Germany as well certain intellectual property currently owned by BASF. Pending approval by regulatory authorities, closing is expected by the end of 2019.

Inge offers globally integrated ultrafiltration technology for the treatment of drinking, process, sea and wastewater. Recent projects include components of membrane technology for the treatment of clean water in the Philippines, Singapore, France and Morocco.

Dupont said BASF’S industry-leading, “Multibore” polyethersulfone (PES) Ultra Filtration technology complements its own high-flow polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) technology, thus providing more choice to its customers.
