INOTECH
Sale of cosmetics packaging department to Quadpack / Third plant in Germany currently under construction
Injection moulding and surface specialist Inotech (Nabburg / Germany; www.inotech.de) is selling its cosmetics packaging division to Quadpack (Hospitalet de Llobregat / Spain; www.quadpack.com) for an undisclosed price. While packaging production remains with Inotech in Nabburg, the Spanish company receives exclusive distribution rights and access to product development facilities at Inotech. According to Harald Kausler, commercial director at Inotech, the two companies complement each other perfectly with this deal. Inotech, says Kausler, has the development and production expertise while Quadpack has a well-developed global sales network.

Quadpack, which generated sales of EUR 105m in 2018 and has around 400 employees, buys most of the packaging it later distributes in Asia. The cooperation with Inotech could somewhat shift its geographical focus towards Europe.
Additional plant for cosmetic packaging under construction
The German injection moulder Inotech, on the other hand, currently generates sales of EUR 40-45m. The company’s main areas of business include packaging (around 15% of sales), technical parts mostly for telecommunication and automotive applications (around 80% of sales) and medicine (4% to 5% of sales). It operates two plants in Nabburg and one each in Sofia / Bulgaria and Tachov / Czech Republic. A third plant is currently being built in Eslarn / Germany near the Czech border. Upon the plant’s opening, it will produce cosmetics packaging. Another plant that was acquired in 2017 is now operated by Kunststofftechnik Weiden (Weiden / Germany). Since 2015, Popp (Kostinbrod / Bulgaria; www.popp.bg) is also part of the group.

Apart from the latest announced deal, Inotech is in the process of restructuring its existing plants so that each of them is focused on a different industry, and can thus specialise. In future, the Nabburg plants will concentrate on the production of multi-component parts, the Czech plants will output 80% of automobile components and the facility in Bulgaria will work exclusively for and with customers from the automotive industry.
