Kohlberg merges US rigid packaging producer with Bemis Healthcare Packaging Europe

Following its acquisition by investment firm Kohlberg & Company (Mount Kisco, New York / USA; www.kohlberg.com), Bemis’ three European flexible pharmaceutical packaging plants in Clara / Ireland, Derry / UK and Elsham / UK will be sold to Nelipak (Cranston, Rhode Island / USA; www.nelipak.com), a manufacturer of rigid medical and pharmaceutical packaging that Kohlberg also recently acquired – see Plasteurope.com of 08.07.2019. The three plants under Bemis’ Healthcare Packaging Europe business unit (www.bhp-europe.com) will be merged with Nelipak Healthcare Packaging.
Nelipak employs just over 800 people and has seven factories – five in the US and two in Europe (the Netherlands and Ireland). As a requirement for the merger of Amcor and Bemis, Kohlberg had in the meantime agreed to acquire Bemis’ three plants in the UK and Ireland, which together general annual sales of about USD 170m – see Plasteurope.com of 28.06.2019.
