“Plexiglas” inventor Otto Röhm founded a company more than 80 years ago, which has again been made an independent entity named Röhm (Darmstadt / Germany; www.roehm.com). The PMMA specialist was transferred from Evonik (Essen / Germany; www.evonik.com) to private equity company Advent International (Boston, Massachusetts / USA; www.adventinternational.com) on 1 August 2019 – see Plasteurope.com of 05.03.2019.

Röhm employs around 3,900 people at 15 production sites in China, Germany, Russia, South Africa and the US. According to Plasteurope.com’s Polyglobe database (www.polyglobe.net), Röhm is number two on the world market for production of both MMA (600,000 t/y capacity) and PMMA moulding compounds (nearly 300,000 t/y).
