German adhesive specialist Bostik (Borgholzhausen; www.bostik.com) is set to acquire Prochimir (Pouzauges / France; www.prochimir.com), a company that manufactures technical films for the automotive, textile, construction and medical industries. With this purchase, Bostik plans to expand its portfolio and secure a key position on this fragmented market. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2019. The companies did not give any details on the purchase price.
Prochimir produces hot melt, barrier and TPU films as well as breathable membranes, among other things. It has an annual turnover of around EUR 30m, of which three quarters are generated by exports. The company has a staff of 85 at its headquarters in Pouzauges as well as Virginia / USA.
Bostik was acquired by chemicals and plastics producer Arkema (Colombes / France; www.arkema.com) in 2015. It was integrated into the French group’s high-performance materials segment – see Plasteurope.com of 05.02.2015.
