Global plastic pipes producer Aliaxis (Brussels / Belgium: www.aliaxis.com) is aiming to strengthen group structure by the end of 2019. Effective 1 August 2019, Akatherm FIP (www.akatherm-fip.de) will be merged with Friatec (Mannheim / Germany; www.friatec.de). A letter states that the contact persons for the companies will remain the same.
The two plastic pipe companies came together in the late 1990s under the UK’s Glynwed group. In 2001, Belgian construction materials group Etex took over Glynwed’s pipe division, which was then spun off in 2003 as Aliaxis. At the same time, Akatherm’s headquarters moved to Mannheim, where Friatec is also based.
