At the start of July 2019, European Plastics Converters (EuPC, Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticsconverters.eu) together with plastics and rubber machinery associations Amaplast (AMP, Milan / Italy; www.amaplast.org), Euromap (Frankfurt / Germany; www.euromap.org) and Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau (VDMA, Frankfurt; www.vdma.org) held a workshop on the use of recyclate. The workshop dealt with increasing the usage of recycled polymers in existing applications. Thirty speakers presented existing technologies and talked about the challenges that must be met in order to make recyclate usage profitable.
Participants also exchanged experiences on standardisation problems, regulatory requirements and the availability of high-quality recyclate. The four associations intend to take up these topics at the “K” trade fair (www.k-online.com) in October 2019. Another workshop will be held at the start of 2020.
