US logistics company Enterprise Products Partners (EPP, Houston, Texas; www.enterpriseproducts.com) is planning further expansions at its “Enterprise Hydrocarbons Terminal” (EHT) on the Houston Ship Channel – see Plasteurope.com of 17.07.2017. In addition to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), the company intends to add polymer grade propylene (PGP) loading capacity with refrigeration facilities for propylene by the end of 2020. The fully refrigerated C3 can be co-loaded on a tanker with LPG, enabling loading up to 2m barrels per month, which equals around 2m t/y of propylene.
Enterprise is a midstream energy services provider (transport, refining and trading of refinery products) and, according to Plasteurope.com’s Polyglobe database (www.polyglobe.net), operates more than 3.8m t/y of propylene production in Texas and Louisiana, making it the leading C3 producer in North America. The company sells all its propylene to third parties. Its assets include tank farms, pipelines and terminals, and it specialises in the storage, transportation and export of gases, including shale gas-derived ethane and petrochemicals.
