From August 2019, German distributor Biesterfeld (Hamburg; www.biesterfeld.com) will have the distribution rights for the “Tecnoflon FKM” fluoroelastomers made by Solvay (Brussels / Belgium; www.solvay.com) in the Brazilian, European and Russian regions. The material is commonly used in seals and hoses in the automotive industry.
Tecnoflon FKM is chemically resistant to media such as fuels, lubricants, oils and solvents. It also has a good long-term sealing effect even at temperatures above 200 °C while providing a low compression set. In addition to the automotive industry, where it is used in O-ring seals for fuel lines or injection systems, for example, Tecnoflon FKM is also used in the chemical, aerospace and oil and gas industries.
Biesterfeld recently extended its distribution for Solvay’s “Udel” polysulfone (PSU), polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) and “Veradel” polyethersulfone (PESU) to the UK and Ireland – see Plasteurope.com of 04.02.2019. In 2018, Solvay announced that it would expand the production of “Tecnoflon” fluoroelastomers and perfluoroelastomers (FFKM) at its plants in Italy and China – see Plasteurope.com of 31.10.2018. According to Belgian the company, there is strong demand for sealing solutions in combustion engines and hybrid drives as well as from the semiconductor industry.
