Tekni-Plex's (Wayne, Pennsylvania / USA; www.tekni-plex.com) growth-through-acquisitions strategy continues. The company announced it has purchased Lameplast (Rovereto sul Secchia / Italy; www.lameplastgroup.com), a plastic packaging manufacturer for pharmaceuticals, from private equity firm the Aksìa Group (Milan / Italy; www.aksiagroup.it). The purchase price was not disclosed. Lameplast will be assigned to Tekni-Plex's films business.
The Italian company makes rigid plastic packaging, such as single- and multi-dose jars and containers for the pharmaceutical industry, as well as for diagnostic, medical device, veterinary and cosmetic applications. It has injection moulding, blow moulding and injection blow moulding expertise, and employs 130 people at its Rovereto sul Secchia site near Modena. Lameplast general manager Luca Iulli will remain in charge of the operation.
This is the twelfth acquisition Tekni-Plex has made over the past five years. In June 2019, the US company completed the acquisition of three Amcor medical packaging facilities in the US, located in Madison and Milwaukee in Wisconsin and Ashland, Massachusetts – see Plasteurope.com of 29.04.2019. Prior to this, Tekni-Plex bought Belgian films manufacturer Beyers Plastics – see Plasteurope.com of 12.11.2018.
