PERSTORP
Launch of renewable version of “Pevalen” non-phthalate plasticiser / Up to 40% renewable content initially
Perstorp (Malmö / Sweden; www.perstorp.com) is launching a renewable grade of its “Pevalen” polyol ester non-phthalate plasticiser. “Pevalen Pro” will be available initially with up to 40% renewable content, with the long-term potential of being 100% renewable.
Jenny Klevas, global marketing and product manager for Perstorp's polyol ester plasticiser platform, described flexible PVC made with Pevalen Pro as the perfect combination as it offers high performance with a better environmental footprint. Pevalen Pro is a direct replacement and the renewable grades are certified by third-party sustainability system ISCC (Cologne / Germany; www.iscc-system.org).

Perstorp launched its Pevalen non-phthalate plasticiser in 2014 as a premium-performance alternative to phthalates, particularly in sensitive applications and those that come into close contact with people, for example coated fabrics, artificial leather, flooring, wall coverings, automotive interiors and sports and leisure goods.
The company announced last month that it had obtained Food Contact Notification from the US Food and Drug Administration (www.fda.gov) for Pevalen as a plasticiser in polymers for repeated-use food contact items – see Plasteurope.com of 25.06.2019.
