Household electronics producer Electrostar/Starmix (Ebersbach / Germany; www.starmix.de) is acquiring long-standing sales partner Equi Nederland (Tiel / The Netherlands; www.equibv.nl). The aim of this takeover is to utilise synergy effects while at the same time developing the German company’s market position in the Netherlands. Following the acquisition, the next step is to expand the products on offer in the Netherlands.
Currently, Equi mainly distributes vacuum cleaners for construction sites. Among other things, Starmix’s portfolio includes sweepers, a product acquired with the takeover of German company Haaga in 2012. Starmix also plans to offer its range of sanitary sector products in its neighbouring country. In the main, these include hair and hand dryers for professional use in hotels, swimming pools and public facilities.
Equi was founded in 1988 by Jannie van Hensbergen, who will continue to manage its business after the takeover. With some 100 independent partners, the Dutch company among other things distributes Starmix and Ecotec vacuum cleaners and various hand tools produced by Ridgid.
