Sanitized (Burgdorf / Switzerland; www.sanitized.com), a producer of antimicrobial products for textiles and polymers, has installed a twin-screw extruder at its “TecCenter” in Burgdorf. This allows it to offer targeted and tailored development of masterbatch quantities for both standard bulk plastics and engineering polymers.
The extruder can make masterbatches of low- to high-melt polymers in different formulations as well as the finished compound. Two nozzle plates allow the extrusion of polymer strands and tapes for further examination of antimicrobial effectiveness in Sanitized’s microbiology lab.
The company said the application testing of antimicrobial products on the same processing machine saves time and money as intensive tests on industrial systems are not required. This means that companies can develop and test new formulations much faster.
