Japanese engineering plastics producer Polyplastics (Tokyo; www.polyplastics.com) has launched a new grade of POM that it says combines high strength with good creep and sliding properties.
Polyplastics said its “Duracon” POM WW-09 grade delivers better mechanical properties by using high molecular weight polymers together with its own molecular design and polymerisation technologies to achieve high initial strength and creep properties. It has also designed the grade to reduce noise during sliding.
According to the Tokyo-based firm, the new material fills the need for sliding grades that require durability in high-load and high-weight conditions which employ thin-walling to achieve lighter weight and better space efficiency.
