The European Commission has given the green light to plastic packaging manufacturer Berry Global’s (Evansville, Indiana / USA; www.berryglobal.com) acquisition of competitor RPC (Rushden / UK; www.rpc-group.com – see Plasteurope.com of 12.03.2019). The commission has no competition concerns about the proposed merger, given the "limited horizontal overlaps and vertical relationships" between the two companies' activities.
A decision from the US anti-trust authorities is pending, with the acquisition scheduled to close in the third quarter of 2019. The transaction is valued at approximately EUR 5.8 bn.
