Poly Recycling (Bilten / Switzerland; www.polyrecycling.com), which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Resilux (Wetteren / Belgium; www.resilux.com – see Plasteurope.com of 05.10.2017), has opened an additional recycling plant for the production of food-grade rPET from PET beverage bottles. The company did not give an updated capacity amount, but it previously had a recycling capacity of around 25,000 t/y.
The Swiss recycler said the technical highlight of the new plant in Bilten is the "Solid Stater" that will be used for the first time in Switzerland. Here, rPET, which is already food-grade quality, is heated for several hours, with unwanted substances volatilising and able to be filtered out. Poly Recycling managing director Casper van den Dungen said the recyclate's technical properties can be raised to the level of virgin PET.
Bilten is also the headquarters of Resilux Schweiz. The subsidiary produces PET preforms from Poly Recycling's recyclate.
