Recycling group Veolia’s (Paris / France; www.veolia.com) subsidiary Veolia PET Germany is building a recycling plant in Norway. About 18,000 t/y of PET bottles will be processed into food-grade PET pellets here as of 2020 – which makes up over 80% of disposable bottles collected in the Scandinavian country. According to media reports, the sum invested amounts to around NOK 200m (EUR 21m). Veolia will operate the plant that is expected to create 30 jobs.

This is Veolia PET Germany’s fourth recycling plant, in addition to its facilities in Rostock / Germany, Norrköping / Sweden and Frauenfeld / Switzerland. The company’s Norwegian partner Infinitum (Oslo; www.infinitum.no) operates the domestic deposit-return system and presorts PET bottles at Heia / Norway, which are currently exported for recycling in Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.
