Decision to fund PP facility on US Gulf

Petchem giant ExxonMobil (Houston, Texas / USA; www.exxonmobilchemical.com) has decided to fund the construction of a new 450,000 t/y PP plant on the US Gulf Coast in Baton Rouge, Louisiana – see Plasteurope.com of 27.03.2018. Baton Rouge-based Turner Industries and Jacobs Engineering have been awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract. Construction is set to begin in 2019 and production start-up is expected in 2021, with 65 permanent jobs created once completed.
According to Plasteurope.com's Polyglobe database (www.polyglobe.net), ExxonMobil has a cracker at the Baton Rouge site with an output of 990,000 t/y of ethylene and 680,000 t/y of propylene along with downstream production of PE, PVC and TPE.
