Windhager (Tahlgau / Austria; www.windhager.eu) has acquired a majority stake in PVC film manufacturer Van Merksteijn Plastics (Boekelo / The Netherlands; www.vanmerksteijnplastics.nl) for an undisclosed sum. The buyer, a specialist in gardening accessories and sun and insect protection, has assigned the Dutch company to Vénilia (www.venilia.com), which produces decorative films, tablecloths and large-format print vinyl. The company from Boekelo now operates as Vénilia Décor.
Vénilia's European production manufactures small or large series of custom-designed tablecloths and adhesive films, which comply with the necessary EU quality standards, such as for food-contact products. Similar goods from Asia, on the other hand, usually do not.
The Windhager group employs over 200 people and generated annual turnover of around EUR 90m in 2017. It has three subsidiaries, one each in France, Germany and Switzerland. Van Merksteijn Plastics has about 80 employees and was taken over in 2011 by entrepreneur Koos van Merksteijn.
