ALBIS PLASTIC
“Anti Squeak” compounds for the automotive industry / Significant noise reduction
German compounder Albis Plastic (Hamburg; www.albis.com) has introduced its “Alcom MS Anti Squeak”. The compound was developed specifically for customers in the automotive and consumer electronics industries and is suitable for application in a range of areas from plastic components and housings in truck interiors to consumer electronics casings.

The new product’s ABS-, PC- or PC+-based component materials are said to improve stick-slip behaviour, thereby reducing noise resulting from contact with other casing materials. According to the company, this eliminates the creaking and cracking noises customarily associated with lower quality products.

A “Ziegler test” (VDA 230-206) of the new compound yielded promising results, with no significant adverse effects on its mechanical or rheological properties evident. The materials were also tested for low emissions for vehicle interiors and lacquerability.
