Injection moulding company KB Components (Örkelljunga / Sweden; www.kbcomponents.com) has acquired the assets of PM Plastics (Windsor, Ontario / Canada; www.pmplastics.ca) to set up its first North American production plant. The facility is managed by its new legal entity KB Components Canada. David Ulrich, an executive at Vari-Form Group (Livonia, Michigan / USA; www.vari-form.com), was appointed general manager/sales director. Paul Garant was named operations manager.
The Canadian facility in Windsor operates 20 injection moulding machines. KB Components also has plants in Sweden, Lithuania, Slovakia, China, Mexico and Canada.
The new entity, with a turnover of USD 10m (EUR 8.8m) and around 60 employees, will focus on the automotive market. One of its major customers, plastic fuel systems manufacturer Kautex (Bonn / Germany; www.kautex.de), is already supplied by KB Components in China and Mexico. For customers of PM Plastics, they would now have access to expanded R&D resources, increased production capacity and technological expertise in automation and process control.
The latest acquisition by KB Components not only expands its production footprint but also its customer base, which comes from the automotive, furniture, lighting, medical and chrome plating industries. It also boosts group turnover to EUR 120m. In 2018, it purchased DKI Plast (Žilina / Slovakia; www.dkiplast.eu), a supplier of injection moulded and extruded components – see Plasteurope.com of 04.07.2018.
