In a transaction due to complete in December 2018, diversified US plastics processor Plaskolite (Columbus, Ohio; www.plaskolite.com) is being sold to a consortium of US private equity investors including PPC Partners (Chicago, Illinois; www.ppcpartners.com), the founding family and the company’s management. The seller is an affiliate of private equity group Charlesbank Capital Partners (Boston, Massachusetts / USA; www.charlesbank.com).
Plaskolite claims to be North America’s largest provider of transparent thermoplastic sheet products. It manufactures materials for a wide variety of applications, including windows, doors, lighting, signs, point-of-purchase displays and bath products.
In March 2018, the Ohio company founded in 1950 by the family of Donald Dunn agreed to acquire the US polycarbonate sheet plant of German engineering plastics producer Covestro (Leverkusen; www.covestro.com) at Sheffield, Massachusetts, for a purchase price said to be in the "high double-digit million dollar range" – see Plasteurope.com of 28.03.2018. The buy was completed in the third quarter. Plaskolite is active mostly in the US, but since 2012 has had a joint venture in Turkey with Isik Plastik (Kocaeli; www.isikplastik.com.tr) – see Plasteurope.com of 03.10.2012.
