Solvay (Brussels / Belgium; www.solvay.com) is expanding its "Application Development Center" for automotive applications in Bollate / Italy by installing additional extrusion equipment and injection moulding processing capabilities. This will enable the company to develop integrated engine and powertrain fluid handling systems with the recently introduced polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) extrusion grades from the “Ryton” series. The new grades are well suited to replace polyamides, which Solvay says often do not meet the increased mechanical and thermal requirements of today’s thermal management systems.
