New laser-markable white POM

POM-C engineering plastics cannot typically be labelled using a UV laser, as the white writing would be almost invisible on the bright natural colour of the material. Semi-finished products manufacturer and processor Ensinger (Nufringen / Germany; www.ensinger-online.com) has developed a compound with a special additive, on which the mark or font becomes grey, meaning data can now be written onto the bright material in series production applications. The material also meets the regulatory requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industry (FDA and EU food-contact regulation No 10/2011).
The high contrast enables product labelling in applications using small fonts of less than 1 mm in height, and the mechanical characteristics and machinability of the extruded products "Tecaform AH LM White" and "Tecaform AH LM Gray" are similar to those of the semi-finished "Tecaform AH natural" product. The white type is available as stock item in the form of 620 x 3,000 mm and 20 mm, 40 mm or 60 mm thick plates. Round bars with a length of 3 m and a diameter of 40 mm or 60 mm are available at short notice, too. The grey variant is produced on demand.
