Quadpack (Barcelona / Spain; www.quadpack.com), a specialist in the design and production of cosmetics packaging, is to expand its plastics processing unit. It will put an approximately EUR 2m investment into increasing capacity at Quadpack Plastics. Among other things, it will invest in an injection moulding machine with a clamping force of 2,500 kN, increased automation and downstream facilities. The group's plastics processing centre in Castellbisbal / Spain produces predominantly transparent skin cream jars made of PMMA.
Quadpack has been growing rapidly since its founding and acquisition of its own processing companies in 2013. In the 2016/17 fiscal year ending 31 January, the company – which comprises the Plastics, Wood and Impressions units – lifted sales by nearly 30% to EUR 90.7m. EBITDA grew only 2% to EUR 6.8m.
For 2018, the company under CEO Tim Eaves is again looking to generate double-digit growth of almost 17%, which would take sales to EUR 106m. The development is being driven by last year's expansion of Quadpack's portfolio to include additional cosmetic products such as make-up and perfumes. In 2018, Eaves is aiming to expand outside Europe, including the company's sales offices in Asia and the US. There, he just found a distributor who will look after the success of Quadpack's "Q-Line" packaging. Exports to these regions alone are expected to raise sales by EUR 7m. Eaves attributes the group's success to its flexible production chain. Quadpack produces around 20% of all packaging products itself, with the majority of the remainder being outsourced to partners.
