Austrian packaging manufacturer takes over Greek company Argo
Packaging producer Alpla (Hard / Austria; www.alpla.com) has acquired Argo (Koropi / Greece; www.argo-sa.gr) for an undisclosed amount. "Our goal is to build expertise in the pharmaceutical market at our Greek location in the future," says Alpla CEO Günther Lehner. "We can see potential for growth in this industry and can make use of existing expertise." The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval.

The deal gives Alpla its first production plant in Greece. Argo was founded in 1970 and has two plants in Koropi, near Athens, and in Berceni / Romania. The Greek company has 270 employees and manufactures plastic packaging such as bottles, canisters, dosing aids and closures for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, crop protection products, chemicals and veterinary medicine. At the end of 2015, Alpla took over Argo's plant in Egypt – see Plasteurope.com of 02.12.2015.
