Multi-million euro IBC facility opens in Netherlands / Ideal for Benelux-based customers
Industrial packaging products specialist Greif (Delaware, Ohio / USA; www.greif.com) has officially opened its new intermediate bulk container (IBC) plant in Ede / The Netherlands, a multi-million euro facility for customers specifically in the food industry. The 90,000 m² facility, developed in cooperation with its Dutch industrial packaging partner Tholu (Ede; www.tholu.com), includes a warehouse and a production plant with two IBC lines. Equipped with cleanroom blow moulding capabilities, the plant complies with the “Global Food Safety Initiative” (GFSI), “Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point” (HACCP) and ISO 22000-4 (food packaging manufacturing).
It is ideally placed to serve Benelux-based customers and offer them Greif’s full portfolio of “Gcube” IBC solutions. Gcube heralds what the company says is the new generation of IBCs – efficient, safe and rugged, and ideal for shipping bulk quantities of hazardous and non-hazardous products.
This latest investment follows the opening of Greif’s IBC facility in Mendig / Germany. Further investment in new facilities across the EMEA region is planned over the next few years, including Russia in 2019.
Currently, Greif has 13 IBC facilities worldwide, nine of them in the EMEA region. The US company operates plants for the production of industrial packaging at 200 locations in 40 countries.
