Family-owned distributor Biesterfeld (Hamburg / Germany; www.biesterfeld.com) achieved a sales record last year, with revenues rising to EUR 1.2 bn from around EUR 1.1 bn the prior year based solely on organic growth. The operating result gained 11% to EUR 51.2m.

Growth was driven by Europe, particularly its home market Germany. Sales from all four operating divisions contributed to the positive trend while Biesterfeld Plastic’s market position in Europe and Latin America strengthened. Detailed financial figures will be published when the company releases its full annual report.

Biesterfeld said the first quarter of 2018 has been “successful,” making it optimistic that it would continue the performance seen in the past two years despite persistent geopolitical and industry-specific challenges.
