The association European Polycarbonate Sheet Extruders (EPSE, Brussels / Belgium; www.epse.org) has launched its own quality label for multiwall polycarbonate sheet, which it says is based on thorough research and European technical standards. The objective of the label is to protect the quality as well as image of PC sheet.
According to EPSE, the difference between the CE mark – see Plasteurope.com of 05.08.2013 – and the EPSE quality label is that CE marking is general, and declares the performance of multiwall sheets, while the new EPSE label sets minimum performance values in order to fulfil the highest requirements. These values include mechanical strength, light transmission, durability and fire performance. A PC sheet bearing the EPSE quality label will have technical criteria such as production under an ISO9000-based quality system, a yellowness index according to EN 16153, a CE mark according EN 16153:2013+A1:2015, mass per unit area according EN 16153 and warranty of over 10 years for weatherability and over 5 years for impact strength.
