CPH group division to acquire majority stake in Brazilian films specialist Sekoya / Sales activities and finishing plant
Perlen Packaging (Perlen / Switzerland; www.perlenpackaging.com), the packaging division of the CPH Group, (Perlen; www.cph.ch) is to acquire a majority shareholding in Sekoya Indústria e Comércio (Anápolis / Brazil). For an undisclosed sum, the Swiss firm takes over 60% of the shares, with retroactive effect from 1 January 2018, from company founder Wellington Branquinho. Sekoya is Perlen Packaging's long-time representative in Brazil. The transaction is scheduled to formally close by the end of February 2018.
In addition to distribution, Sekoya has its own finishing plant where films are made up for pharmaceuticals customers. According to CPH Chemie, the acquisition enables the specialist for blister packs to increase supply flexibility and to serve the Latin American market faster and more efficiently. In the coming months, Sekoya will be moving to a new location in Goiania / Brazil (in the state of Goiás), about 60 km away, in order to expand further. The company will continue to be headed by Branquinho.
"We are delighted that Perlen Packaging will now have its own distribution company and finishing plant not only in North America but in Latin America, too," says Peter Schildknecht, CEO of the CPH Group. In the second quarter of 2016, Perlen Packaging also commissioned a coating plant in Wujiang, Jiangsu / China – see Plasteurope.com of 27.07.2016. "Following our expansion in Asia, this acquisition marks a further major step in our packaging division’s implementation of its global business strategy," he adds.
Perlen Packaging is one of the world's leading suppliers of PVC films for blister packs for the pharmaceutical industry. In 2016, the division generated sales of about CHF 119m (EUR 100m).
